Embrace Self-Care & Serenity
Bringing You the Relief You Deserve
At Massage Therapy Works Inc, our focus is on our patients and the needs of their bodies. We consider every aspect of the body to bring you optimum relief. A significant factor of tension and muscle tightness can be stress, which is why we offer stress-relieving techniques to put your body and mind at ease.
If you’re in or around Arlington, MA, stop into our new facility for a therapeutic, deep-tissue, couples, or sports massage. We do our best to help your muscles achieve better circulation, improvise your body structure, and resolve any pain from injuries.
Which Massage Is Right For You?
Therapeutic Massage (Moderate Pressure)
A therapeutic massage is meant to release muscular tension and improve blood circulation. If you work at a desk every day or partake in strenuous activities, this massage can bring you some tension relief. It isn’t too deep, but just right to have your comfort adjusted properly.
Deep Tissue Massage (Deep Pressure)
Many clients come in for a deep tissue massage after experiencing an injury or severe muscle strain. Our experts can methodically separate the layers of muscle tissue and fascia adherens to bring you relief. This technique takes years to learn how to apply correctly. You may experience soreness 12 hours to 5 days after the massage.
Integrative Bodywork Massage (Moderate to Deep Pressure)
The integrative bodywork massage combines several healing modalities. We address pain and dysfunction to restore body movement and improve balance. This style is usually for severe discomfort. If it’s a chronic issue ( lasting more than three months), at least one Deep Tissue Massage session may be helpful.
Choose Your Treatment Length
We know that a long massage sounds incredibly nice, but it may not always be beneficial. Our team recommends a 1-hour maximum time for your first appointment. Depending on the massage, we adjust our techniques according to what your body needs. If you have any areas of pain you want extra care for, we will spend the additional time there.
30-45 minutes
This time frame is highly recommended when treating 1 or 2 areas. Whether you need head, neck, arms, legs, or feet relief, we can handle one or two of those places in 30-45 minutes. A full-body session will not be possible with this time frame.
1-hour to 75 minutes
If you’re coming in for a half or full-body treatment, 1 hour to 75 minutes is recommended. For frequent massage goers, an hour is perfect. If it has been six months or more since your last massage, consider a 90-minute session.
90-minutes to 2-hours
Full-body treatment is usually taken care of in a full 90-minute to 2-hour session. Your mind and body will have the ability to release stress organically, without a sense of urgency. As a result, the massage will almost feel longer than 2 hours.

Sports Massage
Athletes deserve tension relief after long practices, games, and endurance. So we tailor our sports massage to your most-worked areas. For runners, we concentrate on legs. For swimmers, we spend more time on your upper body.
We may combine deep tissue and stretching to help maximize your muscles’ potential by increasing their range of motion. Often, the forearm or hand is used to bear down on the muscles in your legs and back to separate and relax them. Fingers apply direct pressure on a muscle in spasm, which temporarily can be painful but will reduce your pain later.

Deep Tissue Massage
Release knots and re-balance your structural tension with a deep tissue massage. As a slower massage, we may recommend more than one session for better results. Relieve yourself from muscle straining and painful movement.
Because of the deep pressure, you may experience pain and bruising after treatment. However, after the pain decreases, you will experience a range of movements you have never felt before. Your body will be able to function freely, and you will find the relief you have been longing for several days after the massage.

Manual Lymph Drainage Massage
Help your body heal itself by draining the lymphatic system. This system is vital for the defense against disease and infection. The massage is applied with very gentle pressure and lasts about 75 to 90 minutes long, usually once a day, several times a week for two to four weeks.
Our Manual Lymph Drainage specialists will help reduce the debilitating effects of stagnant or excessive lymph fluid in the body. In addition, studies have found lymphatic massage to be a medically beneficial form of physical therapy for lymphedema-related issues.
If you have been diagnosed with lymphedema, please make sure to receive clearance from your doctor (or lymphedema specialist) to receive our manual lymph drainage treatment. In addition, please bring a letter from your provider indicating that you can receive this service.
