Biography

Bob graduated from East West College of Massage Therapy in Portland, Oregon in 1978 and has been practicing for 30+ years as a licensed professional bodyworker ever since. Bob has always placed tremendous importance on the value of continuing education as a way to best serve the needs of his clients. This burning desire to find out as much as he could about how the body works and how to serve the body’s own healing powers brought him face to face with some of the leading practitioners in the diverse field of health care.

In addition to his training, Bob has also spent years of practice in clinical settings, working with chiropractors, physical therapists as well as an orthodontist. Techniques employed include: Spinal Reflex Analysis, Rehab Myotherapy, Myofascial Release, Deep Connective Tissue Work, CranioSacral Therapy, Bio Energy Synchronization Technique, Trigger Point Therapy, Neuromuscular massage and Positional Release Technique.

Bob says:

“The number one reason I got involved with massage thirty two years ago was a deep desire to help in alleviating suffering. That gave me purpose and I knew that I had found my place in the world. That deep desire and sense of purpose fueled my interest to find out as much as I can about how the body works and all the reasons why it could present pain. That led me to study with some of the top people in the field of Massage Therapy, in the field of Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, and Osteopathy.

I’ve also been very interested in trying to understand and how to come to terms with the ‘invisible’ causes of stress, specifically the mental/emotional levels and how spirit and/or energy fits into the picture. That led me to become an ordained Interfaith Minister where I could now employ Spiritual Counseling to help deal with matters of the Spirit. I have also trained in what I feel is cutting edge, ground breaking work with energy medicine in how to break the energetic patterning that precedes all physical maladies. This is offered under the heading of Matrix Energetics and Shamanic Healing. In the short time I have been doing this work, I have seen people move through major life changes in a matter of sessions instead of years that it could have taken in traditional psychotherapy. I am very excited about the transformative potential this work holds.”

Services Offered:

CranioSacral Re-balancing

CranioSacral Therapy works with the subtle bones of the skull and sacrum to balance the cerebrospinal fluid which influences many bodily functions. A very gentle approach to re-balancing soft tissue structures often compromised by injury or trauma, it has proven to be very effective in the treatment of chronic pain, migraine headaches, low-back pain, TMJD, and other stress-related symptoms.

Usually only one or two sessions are needed to help make a significant change.

Pricing

  • 30-minutes: $70
  • 45-minutes: $90
  • 1-hour: $110

Deep Tissue Massage

Quite different from “a Therapeutic Massage with Extra Pressure,” our Deep Tissue Massage focuses on releasing muscle restrictions (adhesions) and re-balancing structural tension (holding patterns) running through the several layers of soft tissue (muscle). Deep Tissue Massage requires a much slower pace than our Therapeutic Massage and more than one session is usually necessary for better results and/or resolution. Very effective if you have strained a muscle resulting in limited (and possibly painful) movement.

IMPORTANT: While it is not unusual for some people to experience bruising and pain for several days following treatment it does not happen to everyone. Soon the pain will decrease and you will begin to experience a range of movement you haven’t had for a very long while. Eventually, that every-day pain thing will be just a distant memory.

PLEASE NOTE: 30-MINUTES WILL ONLY ALLOW ENOUGH TIME TO WORK ON ONE REGION OF THE BODY (muscles of your thigh, calf, forearms or hands, etc.). One hour is highly recommended for your first session.

Fascial Stretch Therapy

Fascial Stretch Therapy is a new cutting-edge technology based on the most recent scientific understanding of how the body organizes itself for movement. Therapist uses a combination of traction, PNF stretching, and conscious breathing – all of which, when combined, lengthens the fascia and not just your muscles. This unique process makes use of multiple planes of movement which targets the entire joint resulting in maximum flexibility, increased power, speed and agility for athletes. For injury recovery and rehabilitation FST is a powerful therapeutic tool for reducing recovery time.

More information on FST can be seen in the following videos:

Integrative Bodywork

AN ACUTE INJURY USUALLY OCCURS WHEN WE’VE PUSHED OUR MUSCLES BEYOND THEIR NORMAL RANGE-OF-MOTION OFTEN RESULTING IN PAIN.

Integrative Bodywork combines several healing bodywork modalities with therapeutic massage. Some of those modalities might include: CranioSacral therapy, Trigger Point therapy, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, Positional Release, Neuromuscular Facilitation, Reiki, and acupressure. Very effective in treating some chronic pain issues such as sciatica, acute injuries such as whiplash, sports-related injuries, carpal tunnel and other repetitive stress injuries (RSIs), plus physical traumas such as accidents involving falling-down, bicycling, and automobiles.

1-hour usually gives the therapist enough time to focus on those areas of the body associated with the pain or injury. Several treatments are often necessary to understand and resolve the issue(s).

Massage for Children

FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18

The pressures of school academics and intramural sports sometimes takes a toll on a child’s body. Stress can affect a child’s ability to sleep soundly and/or stay focused on daily lessons. Athletic injuries can occur at any age and often do. Soccer, for example, requires a great deal of running which can result in very tight ITBands and calf muscles.

A 30-minute massage is recommended for a young child when too much stress is suspected as being a causative factor in the child’s health, or a longer 45 minute session when the issue is a chronic one.

PLEASE NOTE: A PARENT’S PRESENCE IS REQUIRED.

  • 45-minute Integrative Bodywork: $70
  • 30-minute Therapeutic Massage: $45

Matrix Energetics

A new consciousness technology that combines the limitless potential of energy work with the principles of quantum & scalar physics. Everything can be broken down to fields of energy and information including our bodies, and our minds act as processors of this energy & information.

This means that any symptom of dis-ease can be seen as just a field of disorganized energy that can be changed simply by bringing in a higher level of organization. In this session you will have the opportunity to share as much as you need to with your therapist.

Pricing

  • Initial Session / 1-hour: $100
  • 45-minutes: $85

Rehab Myotherapy

An Initial Structural Assessment is required prior to this treatment session. Please select Initial Structural Assessment prior to your first session.

Rehab Myotherapy focuses on chronic areas of pain due to injury or serious muscle strain. During the course of the treatments there is an unwinding of “old tissue patterns” which are responsible for having created your current pain.

The therapist’s goal is to help reorganize (rebalance) your connective tissue and nervous system in order to allow for a more efficient and mechanically correct way of using your body. Generally requires several sessions to be effective.

Shamanic Healing

Before scheduling your initial appointment, please call our office at 617-684-4000 to speak with the therapist.

An ancient form of energetic healing which works on the luminous energy field that surrounds every living body. The Inca Shamans believe that within this energy field is contained a template which animates all of the important details of our lives such as what kind of diseases we will inherit, how we heal, how we age, the same stories & conditions that get played out over and over again in our lives, and so on.

These templates are called imprints which is nothing more than encoded information that is recorded within the luminous energy field, and is similar to the way that information in the form of software programs are stored on a hard disk on your computer. As such, we are able to erase those imprints of dis-order and dis-ease due to past events.

Sports Massage

If you’re a runner, we are going to concentrate on your legs; if you’re a swimmer, we will spend more time on your upper body and hips; a cyclist, your hip flexors, quads, ITB, calves and upper trapezius will likely be targeted.

A sports massage therapist may use their forearm or the palm of their hand to bear down on the muscles in your legs and back to separate and relax them and their fingers to put direct pressure on a muscle in spasm, which can be painful but will reduce your pain later. Along with massage we’ll combine deep tissue massage and stretching when necessary to help maximize your muscles’ potential.

Testimonials

I have received many massages over the past 30 years, and always got relief for the various muscle aches I complained about. But NO ONE gave me the kind of therapy and resolution that Bob Nemeth gave me. His interventions go FAR beyond relief. He is intuitive, accommodating, instructive, and healing. — Linda S. (Somerville)

I have been a regular client of Bob’s for the last three years. I run marathons. I get the deep tissue massage once a month and I would definitely recommend it to any serious runner. Bob has helped me get rid of some of my running injuries and also helped me from getting new ones. I would not go anywhere else for a massage! — Stephanie H. (Somerville)
